Staré veterné mlyny

Vysoko na plochom vrchole kopcov nad mestom našla Polly dlhý rad okrúhlych kamenných veží, ktoré sa týčili proti oblohe.

High on the flat top of the hills above the town, Polly found a long row of round stone towers standing against the sky.

Boli to staré veterné mlyny. Dnes už nemajú strechy ani krídla. Sú to len prázdne veže s malými tmavými oknami, tiché vo vetre.

They were old windmills. Today they have no roofs and no sails any more. They are just open towers with small dark windows, quiet in the wind.

Kedysi dávno tu silný vietor deň čo deň otáčal ich veľké krídla a mlyny mlely pšenicu na múku pre celé mesto dole pod kopcom.

Long ago, the strong wind up here turned their great sails day after day, and the mills ground wheat into flour for the whole town below.

Polly si pozorne prezrela steny. Bol to ten istý zlatý kameň, aký videla v jaskyni pri mori. Naklonila hlavu a začala rozmýšľať.

Polly looked closely at the walls. It was the same golden stone she had seen in the cave by the sea. She tilted her head and began to wonder.
