Polja bijele vode
Polly follows the coast south to the salt pans of Sečovlje, where sea water dries into white salt and is raked by hand as it has been for more than seven hundred years.

Polly je letjela na jug uz obalu. Kod male rijeke kopno je bilo ravno. Uz more je bilo stotine plitkih bazena. Svaki bazen sjao je kao zrcalo. To su Sečoveljske soline. Ljudi ovdje proizvode sol više od sedamsto godina.
Morska voda ulazi u bazene. Cijelo ljeto sunce odnosi vodu. Sol ostaje. Polly je ušla u jedan bazen. Voda je bila topla i slana.
Radnici su gurali duge drvene grablje kroz vodu. Bijela sol stvarala je male brežuljke. Rade rukama, kao nekada davno.
Jedan radnik pokazao joj je dno bazena. Bilo je tamno i glatko, kao koža. Ono drži blato dolje, pa sol ostaje bijela.
That's the story.
