Pole bílé vody
Polly follows the coast south to the salt pans of Sečovlje, where sea water dries into white salt and is raked by hand as it has been for more than seven hundred years.

Polly letěla na jih podél pobřeží. U malé řeky byla země rovná. U moře byly stovky mělkých nádrží. Každá nádrž se leskla jako zrcadlo. To jsou soliny Sečovlje. Lidé tu dělají sůl více než sedm set let.
Mořská voda teče do nádrží. Celé léto slunce vodu odnáší. Sůl zůstává. Polly vešla do jedné nádrže. Voda byla teplá a slaná.
Dělníci tlačili vodou dlouhé dřevěné hrably. Bílá sůl dělala malé kopečky. Pracují rukama, jako kdysi dávno.
Jeden dělník jí ukázal dno nádrže. Bylo tmavé a hladké jako kůže. Drží bahno dole, a tak sůl zůstává bílá.
That's the story.
