Останнього ранку Поллі полетіла на край міста. Там біля моря, поруч із круглою церквою, стоїть маленький білий маяк. Звідси місто знову було схоже на корабель.

On her last morning, Polly flew to the end of the town. A small white lighthouse stands there by the sea, next to a round church. From here, the town looked like a ship again.

Рибальські човни один за одним виходили з гавані. Дзвін на вежі дзвонив над дахами. На площі чоловік зі скрипкою стояв сам у першому світлі.

The fishing boats left the harbour one by one. The bell in the tower rang over the roofs. On the square, the man with the violin stood alone in the first light.

Поллі досі відчувала смак однієї крупинки солі. Її зробили море, сонце й терплячі руки, так само, як уже понад сімсот років. Сіль збудувала це біле місто.

Polly still tasted one grain of salt. Sea, sun and patient hands made it, the same way for more than seven hundred years. Salt built this white town.

Вона один раз облетіла місто. Потім вона піднялася на ранковому вітрі. Кам'яний корабель став маленьким позаду неї. Море попереду було широке і яскраве.

She flew once around the town. Then she rose on the morning wind. The stone ship grew small behind her. The sea in front of her was wide and bright.
