Voda na dne

Posledná časť schodov je iná. Skala je teraz mokrá. Je tmavá a studená. Na dne je malá jaskyňa.

The last part of the steps is different. The rock is wet now. It is dark and cold. At the bottom there is a small cave.

V jaskyni vyteká zo skaly sladká voda. Polly ju ochutná. Je studená a sladká. More je hneď vedľa, ale táto voda nie je slaná.

Inside the cave, fresh water comes out of the rock. Polly tastes it. It is cold and sweet. The sea is right there, but this water is not salty.

Na zem hore padá dážď. Skala tam hore je vápenec. Voda doň vsakuje. Ide dolu vnútri kameňa a vyteká tu.

Rain falls on the land above. The rock up there is limestone. The water sinks into it. It travels down inside the stone and comes out here.

Teraz Polly schodom rozumie. Vojaci ich neurobili za jednu noc. Urobili ich mnísi, pomaly, veľa rokov. Chceli túto vodu.

Now Polly understands the steps. Soldiers did not make them in one night. Monks made them, slowly, for many years. They wanted this water.
