La roccia che se n'è andata

Polly scende ancora. Vede un'alta roccia nell'acqua. È tutta sola. Le onde si rompono bianche intorno a lei.

Polly goes further down. She sees a tall rock in the water. It stands alone. Waves break white around it.

Tanto tempo fa quella roccia era parte della scogliera. Poi le onde hanno portato via la pietra sotto. Adesso è sola nel mare. In basso è sottile.

Long ago that rock was part of the cliff. Then the waves took away the stone under it. Now it stands alone in the sea. It is thin at the bottom.

Passa un gabbiano. Questo gabbiano non segue le barche. Non prende il cibo alla gente. Pesca da solo i suoi pesci nel mare.

A gull flies past. This gull does not follow boats. It does not take food from people. It catches its own fish in the sea.

Il gabbiano vola via. Polly guarda lo spazio tra la roccia e la scogliera. Prima quello spazio era pietra.

The gull flies away. Polly looks at the space between the rock and the cliff. That space was stone before.
