떠나간 바위

폴리는 더 내려가요. 물 위에 높은 바위가 보여요. 바위는 혼자 서 있어요. 바위 주위에서 파도가 하얗게 부서져요.

Polly goes further down. She sees a tall rock in the water. It stands alone. Waves break white around it.

옛날에 그 바위는 절벽의 일부였어요. 그런데 파도가 바위 밑의 돌을 가져갔어요. 이제 바위는 바다에 혼자 서 있어요. 바위는 아래쪽이 가늘어요.

Long ago that rock was part of the cliff. Then the waves took away the stone under it. Now it stands alone in the sea. It is thin at the bottom.

갈매기 한 마리가 지나가요. 이 갈매기는 배를 따라가지 않아요. 사람들의 음식을 가져가지 않아요. 바다에서 직접 물고기를 잡아요.

A gull flies past. This gull does not follow boats. It does not take food from people. It catches its own fish in the sea.

갈매기가 날아가요. 폴리는 바위와 절벽 사이의 빈 곳을 봐요. 그곳은 옛날에 돌이었어요.

The gull flies away. Polly looks at the space between the rock and the cliff. That space was stone before.
