Miasto na urwisku

Polly leci na południe wzdłuż wybrzeża Korsyki. Potem wyspa się kończy. Przed nią jest tylko morze. Daleko widzi drugą wyspę.

Polly flies south along the coast of Corsica. Then the island ends. In front of her there is only sea. Far away she can see another island.

Polly odwraca się i widzi miasto. Miasto stoi na wysokim, białym urwisku. Domy są wysokie i wąskie. Stoją na samym brzegu. Pod nimi urwisko spada daleko w dół, do morza.

Polly turns and sees a town. The town stands on a high white cliff. The houses are tall and narrow. They stand right at the edge. Below them the cliff falls a long way down to the sea.

Polly siada na starym murze i patrzy w dół. Skała jest biała i sucha. Pod nią latają mewy. Potem Polly widzi coś dziwnego. W urwisku jest wycięta wąska linia. W tej linii są schody.

Polly lands on the old town wall and looks down. The rock is white and dry. Gulls fly below her. Then she sees something strange. There is a narrow line cut into the cliff. Inside the line there are steps.

Schody idą w dół, w ciemność. Polly nie widzi ich końca. Polly tam zejdzie.

The steps go down into the dark. Polly cannot see the end of them. Polly will go down there.
